Auburn Bay Before and After 2
This garden in the south-east Calgary community of Auburn Bay is a good example of a smaller property with a low maintenance approach. Some patio space and a fire-pit were desired as well as privacy from the neighboring properties. The slope also needed to be dealt with without a lot of retaining walls or expense.
The retaining we developed in this garden is made from Belvedere blocks and is used to both retain the fire-pit area level but also to enclose it a little for a more cozy feeling. The remaining slope in the back is planted with hardy plant material and mulched with landscape fabric and washed rock. This holds in moisture and suppresses weeds thus reducing maintenance. As there is no lawn the homeowners can be away for several weeks and things take care of themselves.
“We first contacted Peter “cold” on the recommendation of a trusted home renovator. After visiting his website, reviewing his company material and credentials, and meeting him for an initial consultation, we didn’t even bother talking to other landscapers. Our landscaping is now complete (minus our perennials that will be planted next year), and we can say that the experience exceeded our most optimistic expectations. From Peter’s and Clayton’s initial interpretation of the design, through to the competence and professionalism of his crews, to finishing up with a thorough cleaning of our driveway and street, everything was of the highest standard imaginable. This is an extremely rare thing in this day and age. And our landscaping looks like something out of a home-and-garden magazine – absolutely stunning. Thank you Peter and The Landscape Artist team.
